FAQ


 

Can anyone file for divorce in California?
Yes, as long as one party has lived in California for the past 6 months
and in the county of filing for the past 3 months.

 

Will my uncontested dissolution take long?
No. The standard waiting period in California is 6 months.

 

Will I need an Attorney to file for my divorce?
No, as long as your spouse does not fight or contest your case,
no attorney is required.

 

Will your service answer questions about my case?
Yes, we will cheerfully answer questions relating to procedural guidance.
However, we are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice.

 

If you qualify as low income or you receive SSI/SSP, Calworks, Food Stamps,
and/or County Relief, we can assist you to obtain a waiver of the county filing fees

 

How much will it cost?
Our fee starts at $425 and will be sufficient for most people. The only additional cost incurred will be the court filing fee which varies depending on your county of residence.

 

Will this take up a lot of my time?
This can vary immensely from case to case, but usually after spending 90 minutes at our office the remainder of your case can be handled through the mail and you don't have to appear in court.
